Evocative folk/pop chanteuse Jilllie released her sophomore release (Jill Goldberg), “Girl, Polite” in April 2011. Produced by Mark Turrigiano (Ingrid Michaelson, Lissy Trullie), the 6-track EP is a musical exploration of identity, transition, and empowerment, drawing inspiration from personal experience and the world around her. Armed with a sound that reflects Sheryl Crow’s pop/rock sensibility, Sara Barielles’ vocal prowess, Basia Bulat’s poignant poetry, and Sarah McLachlan’s graceful delivery, “Girl, Polite” provides a solid testament to Jillie’s burgeoning musicianship and undeniable spirit.

Born and raised in New Jersey, Jillie always participated in music whether playing clarinet and trumpet in the band or writing instrumental piano songs. She started singing in college when she joined an a cappella group and started arranging the songs for the group. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelors degree in music theory and went on to work in television as an NBC Page and later worked for The Martha Stewart Show and PBS affiliate WGBH. It was while she was living in New York that she started writing her own songs and performing her music live. She was selected to perform at the infamous The Bitter End as well as performed on several television programs The Martha Stewart Show, Fox News Good Morning Maine, Community Auditions, It’s All About Arts and Talent Quest TV Show.

Over the course of her career, Jillie’s music has been featured prominently on the Martha Stewart Show and Ralph Lauren’s Big Pony Collection campaign. Her song “Travel On” was selected as a finalist in the worldwide songwriting contest Song of the Year in 2007. Jillie has also been featured in local and national print (including Performer Magazine) and is also receiving airplay on Pandora Radio, Women of Substance Radio, Cape Cod Radio and other radio stations across the country.
